WHAT IT DOES 

Different hand saws can be used to cut wood, metals, plastics, and plasterboard of different thicknesses.  Do you need a hand saw or a power saw?  This may depend on how much cutting you need to do, material, accuracy needed etc. 

Panel Saw or Crosscut Saw - A general purpose saw with a long flexible blade used for cross cutting timber.  It has medium size teeth and gives a roughish finish.

Crosscut teeth are designed for cutting across the grain of the wood. (plain tooth)
